<p>先看一条来自Google首席经济学家Hal Varian的视频（<span style="text-decoration: line-through;">不能翻墙看Youtube的同学，</span><span style="text-decoration: line-through;">我正请Luffy同学帮忙转到国内视频站上</span>）。顺便说两句闲话，我读经济的时候，微观经济学用Hal的教材，之后写论文也参考过他的Information Rules。在微观经济这一块，HAL 是个大腕了。注意这个现象，科普的工作往往都是大腕来做的，因为最基本的动机就是最重要的东西，如何反复强调都不过分。</p>
<p>简单复述一下这个视频的总结：</p>
<ol>
<li>我们要知道转化的价值。如何知道这个价值呢？这与转化定义，监测的设计和落实关系很大。总的来说还是目标设置问题，如上次SEMER建议的，需要单独讨论。这边暂时默认为已知。</li>
<li>我们需要知道转化率，即平均多少个点击会产生一个转化。这也是个复杂的数字，由于转化率是真实市场的直接反映，干扰因素非常多。但最重要的一点是，转化率到底是否随竞价和位置而变化？Hal的研究结果说，在Google搜索中，转化率受排名因素干扰不大。http://adwords.blogspot.com/2009/08/conversion-rates-dont-vary-much-with-ad.html 这是一个有争议的说法，因为实战环境中，我们有时候的确能观察到排名与转化率的直接影响，但那时个例。这里采纳Hal的研究结果，以便继续向下推导。</li>
<li>知道了转化价值和转化率，我们就能知道每个点击的价值VPC。当CPC低于VPC的时候，成本低于价值，就是赢利的。注意，这是非常关键的一点。在实战中，我们通常使用的是CPA指标，即每个转化的成本，来进行SEM管理。名义上CPA和VPC应该是同一个东西，因为把CPA指标分解到每个点击，这个数值就等于VPC。但在实战中，CPA和VPC的差别可以很大。</li>
<li>Hal拿出了竞价技巧的核心增量点击成本ICC。ICC表达的意思是，当你提高竞价的时候，你的排名上升，获得了更多点击，同时提高了实际  CPC。在转化率不变的情况下，VPC不变，那么CPC的增加就会改变赢利状况。ICC这个缩写听起来很复杂，实际上就是边际成本。边际成本高于边际收入，利润率就低于零了。这个说法很教科书吧？没有什么可以争议的。</li>
</ol>
<p>既然那么清晰明了，又怎么谈得上技巧呢？技巧在于就在CPA和VPC的差异上。绝大部分搜索营销管理员面对的是CPA指标，只要CPA低于指标，就可以继续推动竞价。<br />
想象一下，如果20元的CPA是盈亏平衡点。当我推高竞价时会获得更多的点击，由于转化率恒定，则转化量稳定提高。这时，只要CPA始终小于等于20元，我就会认为推高竞价是有意义的，因为每个新获得的转化都带来了收入。一旦CPA超过了20元，新增转化就是成本负担了。非常合理。<br />
但如果把CPA指标分解成VPC，画面就截然不同了。随着竞价提高，实际CPC也在提高，边际成本提高了，当ICC超过了VPC的时候，在新增的成本和收入部分我就已经开始亏损。但是，由于之前的CPA只有比如15元，这个亏损是可以消化的，表面上，CPA的增长仍然在CPA指标范畴以内。这样，从15元到20元的CPA空间，完全是利润亏损的空间。<br />
这又是一个非常教科书的结论：完全竞争环境中，利润最大化就是经济利润为零，因为所有利润都被用来填补成本了。嗯，我对这个翻译的说法一直觉得有些困扰，好像会引起误读。个人觉得：利润率最大化VS收入最大化是比较贴切的说法。<br />
那么，是不是说VPC管理在SEM竞价中比CPA管理更有价值？这也不一定。在理想中，所有的广告商要追求的都是利润率最大化，因为大家的目标是挣钱。辛辛苦苦忙一年，完了一分钱都没有挣到有啥意思？注意教科书结论的前提是“完全竞争环境”。利润率和收入最大化为啥不能统一，这是因为存在竞争。竞争对手不会让你舒舒服服地呆在利润率最高的顶点上。SEM市场有点类似金融市场，是相对接近完美的竞争环境，因为对消费者来说信息高度透明。<br />
这样绕了一圈，我们又回到起点了：决定SEM竞价原则的，还是目标设置的问题。即使我们采用CPA管理，了解这个CPA的来源和指向，比直接采用一个CPA指标重要得多，虽然在短期的操作层面可能不会有太大差别。</p>
<p>继续闲话：有个业内的朋友要海归，一块儿吃了顿饭，聊了聊这个行业。朋友觉得SEM是个很简单的东西，就那么几件事情，做完了就完了，全是基本功。我说这个看法我同意一半，我也一直认为SEM基本就是体力活儿，但要说做完了就完了那是纯粹的SEM层面上的；作为营销管理者，我觉得应该对整个动态的市场和策略有充分了解，不断地把上一个层次的内容反馈到SEM里面去。朋友说，你这个说话就艺术了，当然很高级，但是在操作层面上差别到底有多大？我想了想，确实差别没有很大。大部分账户，一个高手和中手的管理结果不会天差地别。有个说法，普通货是一分钱一分货，高级货是一块钱一分货。SEM可以做得很“高级”，但是增加的“货量”也许有限。但我想，比如说一个1%的改善吧，对于一天卖五件文化衫的小网店和AMAZON的意义完全不同。“高级”是个有成本的事情，价值是不是相符，也得看需求。绝大部分的用户，还真是不需要太高级……<br />
注：Hal的这个推导过程是高度简化的，有兴趣的同学可以沉下去想一想，在每一步上到底有多少可能性。</p>

		<description><![CDATA[两周前，Google 搜索结果页面右侧广告进行了不少变化，同时在三周前，Google checkout 也推出了可嵌入的 Gadget 力战 Paypal，而远在六月份，就有人截获了一封来自 Google 发给 Google Affiliate Network 成员的邮件，内容是关于 Google Product Ads Beta 测试的问题，这么多一些列的广告系统和购物系统的分散消息，让 SEMWatch 非常好奇的对其进行了围观。 两周前，根据 seroundtable的观察，以及 谷奥的编译，在北美不少用户发现了右侧广告的图片测试版本： 而一些热门的关键字搜索结果页面右侧，你可能会发现广告里出现了新的“相关关键字”，点击即可查看更多相关关键字的广告。这个是正在测试的项目，没未 100% 投放。 包括以上但不局限于这些广告形式，Google 还有其他更多的广告测试，比如：Google 可以让用户通过“+”号进行产品的详细查询，AdWords Product PlusBox 等手段逐渐浮出水面 又比如，Google 在右侧进行了产品的 display。 以上这些种种的广告呈现方式的不同，让我联想起了六月份WSJ上面的的文章：Google to Test New Product Ads on Prize Real Estate，Google 已经针对房地产行业进行了一些测试，而现在，这些测试的产品内容越来越多样化。而伴随着这些测试总有个 Google Checkout 的标记，也将会越来越多的呈现在搜索人民的面前。 我们来分析一下现在 Adwords 广告形式：CPC，按点击付费，根据质量得分和出价来进行排名。用户能获得曝光，购买产品的实际效果转化率不在 Google 考虑范围内。 而上面的着一些都暗示着，有可能 Google [...]<table class="wumii-related-items" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3" border="0"  style="clear: both;">

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>两周前，Google 搜索结果页面右侧广告进行了不少变化，同时在三周前，Google checkout 也推出了可嵌入的 Gadget 力战 Paypal，而远在六月份，就有人截获了一封来自 Google 发给 Google Affiliate Network 成员的邮件，内容是关于 Google Product Ads Beta 测试的问题，这么多一些列的广告系统和购物系统的分散消息，让 <a href="http://semwatch.org">SEMWatch</a> 非常好奇的对其进行了围观。</p>

<p>两周前，根据<a href="http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/020583.html"> seroundtable的观察</a>，以及 <a href="http://google.org.cn/posts/google-new-layouts-for-ads-in-serp.html">谷奥的编译</a>，在北美不少用户发现了右侧广告的图片测试版本：</p>

<p>而一些热门的关键字搜索结果页面右侧，你可能会发现广告里出现了新的“相关关键字”，点击即可查看更多相关关键字的广告。这个是正在测试的项目，没未 100% 投放。</p>

<p>包括以上但不局限于这些广告形式，Google 还有其他更多的广告测试，比如：Google 可以让用户通过“+”号进行产品的详细查询，<a href="http://searchengineland.com/google-continues-adwords-product-plusbox-16466" target="_blank">AdWords Product PlusBox</a> 等手段逐渐浮出水面</p>

<p>以上这些种种的广告呈现方式的不同，让我联想起了六月份WSJ上面的的文章：<a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2009/06/19/google-to-test-new-product-ads-on-prize-real-estate/">Google to Test New Product Ads on Prize Real Estate</a>，Google 已经针对房地产行业进行了一些测试，而现在，这些测试的产品内容越来越多样化。而伴随着这些测试总有个 Google Checkout 的标记，也将会越来越多的呈现在搜索人民的面前。</p>
<p>我们来分析一下现在 Adwords 广告形式：CPC，按点击付费，根据质量得分和出价来进行排名。用户能获得曝光，购买产品的实际效果转化率不在 Google 考虑范围内。</p>
<p>而上面的着一些都暗示着，有可能 Google 要进行按产品销售进行广告支付的尝试。也是六月份，BlogoScope 报道了关于 <a href="http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2009-06-19-n22.html">Google 产品广告的相关信息</a>，其核心就是“点了广告不算数，买了产品再付广告费”的 CPS 和 CPA 模式。</p>
<p>更加让人震撼的是美国的 ReadWriteWeb 在 <a href="http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/mapping_the_current_web_transition.php">描绘当前互联网转变</a> 的时候，对 CPA 和 CPC 进行了这样的比较：</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><span>品牌推广使用 <span lang="en-us">CPM</span>，直接收入使用 <span lang="en-us">CPA</span>。 <span lang="en-us">Google </span>仍将控制 <span lang="en-us">CPC</span>，但是 <span lang="en-us">CPC </span>会随着 <span lang="en-us">CPA </span>的增长而势微。<span lang="en-us">Google </span>将采用<span lang="en-us">CPA </span>和 <span lang="en-us">CPM</span>，但无法像统治 <span lang="en-us">CPC </span>那样占优。广告发布商将把<span lang="en-us"> CPA </span>作为辅助手段，因为任何人都无法和 <span lang="en-us">Google </span>的 <span lang="en-us">CPC </span>价格竞争。渴望销售 <span lang="en-us">CPM </span>的发布商和渴望购买 <span lang="en-us">CPA </span>的广告客户之间存在差距，能够填补这个差距的投资将获得成功。</span></p>
<p><span>这可以看做是 Google 开始尝试 CPA 的原因之一。</span></p>
<p><span>而根据<a href="http://www.jaylee.cn/">博客李杰</a>的判断：Google Product Ads 的推出，可以看成是 Google 整合 DoubleClick 的最新成果，如果 Google Product Ads 测试效果好，Google 很有可能会加速 Google Affiliate Network 和 AdWords 的整合，让数量更多的 AdWords 广告主能够用上 CPA 广告。</span></p>
<p><span>再回到一开始就提到的 Google Checkout 的 Gadget，现在在联系 CPA 和 新的产品广告理念来联想一下 Checkout 的作用，未来每个网站都挂着 checkout 的支付链接，每个网站都展示 Google 的产品广告，每此搜索 Google 都将你需要的展示在你面，Google 真正的将广告的“效果”直接传递给受众，并且“大小通吃”。</span></p>
<p><span>这不光是 Google 广告系统的升级，有可能还是电子商务的大整合。</span></p>
